Lens Guide for Landscape Photographers
Join me, as I walk you through three lens I most commonly use for landscape photography. I show examples, shot with each lens, and give you tips on how to make the most out of your next photo shoot.
Get StartedMid-range Lens
A mid-range lens (24-70mm) allows us to give justice to the background of an image, while keeping objects nearer to the camera, in focus. This helps us create a wonderful sense of depth and capture the landscape's nature sense of beauty.
Telephoto Lens
Not the typical lens most landscape photographers use, but it is one of my favorites. A telephoto lens (100+mm) is perfect for capturing something that is far off in the distance, while eliminating distractions in the foreground. This lens is best suited for side light or back light situations.
Wide Angle Lens
My wide angle lens of choice is a Sony 12-24mm lens. I typically shoot at a 12-16mm range. This lens is all about being able create a high sense of depth and three-dimensionality. It's perfect for shooting an incredibly wide perspective while maintaining focus throughout the entire image.
